Silicon.com is planning to publish some festive material in the run-up to the year end - including a new addition to the site aimed at anyone unfortunate enough to be in the office on New Year's Eve. Graham Hayday has the details

The Year 2000 'problem' has made many software companies and IT consultants a big pile of cash. It's enabled a lot of journalists to fill hundreds of column inches (including ourselves, of course).
But even now - just 45 days away from the new millennium - no-one knows what's going to happen.
Over the last week or so, Silicon.com has been running a survey to find out what the IT industry will be doing on 31 December.
It seems that a lot of you will be working. Customer support operations will be well-staffed. Several of our leading software vendors (and end-user organisations) seem slightly concerned that things will go awry.
Will you be in the office? If so, what will you be doing? Watching TV? Eating pizza? Panicking? We want to hear from you.
Silicon.com is planning a special adjunct to our normal site to entertain anyone who has to work over the Christmas period, and in particular on New Year's Eve. There will be a prize crossword, jokes, games, links to online music sites and various other festive text and video items.
We want to publish YOUR opinions: will there be chaos, or will the clocks tick over with no serious knock-on effects (other than a huge collective hangover)? We'll publish some of the better predictions in the run-up to the year end.
We also want to collect the best IT-related jokes. If you've got a favourite - or any other suggestions for the site - email us at editorial@silicon.com (or click on 'feedback' below).
And we can then fill a few more column inches on your behalf...
