The strange thing isn't the mix of stories - yes, silicon.com is a broad publication - or that they'll be seen by readers in Europe and the rest of the world - we are, after all, on the world wide web. Rather, what should raise an eyebrow or two is how these issues will be relevant to many people, no matter where they're located.
While Marshall McLuhan spoke of a 'global village' as long ago as the 1960s, the last five years have done more for bringing people together than any other period in history. This acceleration in how we interact takes the form of personal contact, but also the type of worldwide, local and extremely local (intra-company) commercial communication that characterises what we've come to call ebusiness.
With this shift in mind, silicon.com today publishes its latest special report. Called Global Ebusiness (http://www.silicon.com/global ), the report considers what companies need to be doing to operate globally, as well as the ways governments and organisations such as the WTO, WIPO and FBI are bringing about change. Or holding it back, as the case may be.
Over the next six weeks, Global Ebusiness will feature video interviews and written news and analysis that relates to doing business around the world, using internet-age communications.
This is an overwhelming trend few businesses can afford to ignore, so we encourage you to think global, and act by going to http://www.silicon.com/global .
