
Killer apps to end all killer apps...

People in this industry are wont to talk about killer applications, those pieces of must-have software that drive the uptake of particular hardware platforms. Whether it's Lotus 1-2-3 for the DOS-based PC, SMS for the mobile phone or even Lara Croft for the PlayStation the application is king. And without it, the hardware will wither.
The imminent arrival of 'smart' flat-pack - as reported elsewhere today, http://www.silicon.com/a55415 - got us thinking about the alternative killer applications. Not a conventional list but once these apps come into mainstream circulation you'll wonder how you did without them.
