I've done a lot of searching for an Instant Messaging solution for my company. We deal with major financial advisors and insurance companies, so we have to deal with Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA. I needed something secure and had excellent logging, but I needed to just pull it out of the box and make it work. I found it from Deviant Technologies, http://www.devianttechnologies.com.
I was able to get their InterIM box up and running in about a 1/2 hour. It was easy to slurp all the users over from my LDAP server. If you need an instant messaging solution and don't have time to build it yourself then definately check them out.
