Strategy - that's the word!
The problem with BI is that it starts at the data and works up. The result - lots of reports and reporting capability - but does this actually support the business' strategy or goals. And how often do we hear the lament of not knowing what the organisation's strategy or goal is?
If you start at the other end - commmunicating the strategy and objectives in the context of that unit or team's role in the organisation - then that will help identify the indicators that show not only how the team are performing but also to identify the information to help them get better.
